Regular Expression Quantifiers - at least m Occurrences
نویسنده
چکیده
This is the second article on regular expression quantifiers. [4] introduced the quantifiers m to n occurrences and optional occurrence. In the sequel, the quantifiers: at least m occurrences and positive closure (at least 1 occurrence) are introduced. Notation and terminology were taken from [8], several properties of regular expressions from [7]. The notation and terminology used here are introduced in the following papers:

Derivatives of Logical Formulas
We formalize new decision procedures for WS1S, M2L(Str), and Presburger Arithmetics. Formulas of these logics denote regular languages. Unlike traditional decision procedures, we do not translate formulas into automata (nor into regular expressions), at least not explicitly. Instead we devise notions of derivatives (inspired by Brzozowski derivatives for regular expressions) that operate on for...
متن کاملTowards Elimination of Second-Order Quantifiers in the Separated Fragment
It is a classical result that the monadic fragment of secondorder logic admits elimination of second-order quantifiers. Recently, the separated fragment (SF) of first-order logic has been introduced. SF generalizes the monadic first-order fragment without equality, while preserving decidability of the satisfiability problem. Therefore, it is a natural question to ask whether SF also admits elim...
متن کاملGeneralized Quantifiers and Logical Reducibilities
We consider extensions of first order logic (FO) and least fixed point logic (LFP) with generalized quantifiers in the sense of Lindström [Lin66]. We show that adding a finite set of such quantifiers to LFP fails to capture all polynomial time properties of structures, even over a fixed signature. We show that this strengthens results in [Hel92] and [KV92a]. We also consider certain regular inf...
متن کاملString cadences
We say a string has a cadence if a certain character is repeated at regular intervals, possibly with intervening occurrences of that character. We call the cadence anchored if the first interval must be the same length as the others. We give a sub-quadratic algorithm for determining whether a string has any cadence consisting of at least three occurrences of a character, and a nearly linear alg...
متن کاملFrom Parikh’s Theorem to Many-Sorted Spectra
We discuss a generalization of Parikh’s Theorem for contextfree languages to classes of many-sorted relational structures which are both definable in Monadic Second Order Logic and which are of bounded patch-width. Patch-width is a generalization of both tree-width and clique-width. This gives a powerful unifying tool to prove that certain classes of graphs are of unbounded width. For R. Parikh...
